Blog : The magic effect of vinegar
Vinegar: excellent disinfectant for the floor and not on countertops and eating surfaces.
A recent study has highlighted the important role of acetic acid, contained in particular in vinegar, in the fight against bacteria. Acetic acid, the disinfectant of the future?
According to a study conducted by an international team of Venezuelan, French and American researchers and presented in the journal mBio, acetic acid effectively kills mycobacteria, even the mycobacterium tuberculosis mycobacterium, highly resistant to drugs.
Mycobacteria, which cause tuberculosis and leprosy, are problematic in hospitals because of their resistance to commonly used disinfectants. Chlorine is often used to disinfect crops and TB clinical specimens, but is toxic and corrosive. This is where acetic acid might be particularly useful.
